Four talented Cape Central High School musicians will travel to Tan-Tar-A Resort next month to perform with the Missouri All-State Orchestra or All-State Band during the annual Missouri Music Educators Association convention. Pictured above left and center are Matt Flanagan, class of 2013, and Nina Scheibe, class of 2010, who both qualified for the All-State Band. At right is Josh Wen, class of 2010, who qualified for All-State Orchestra. Casey Irvine, class of 2011, not pictured, also qualified for All-State Band.
More than 1000 students from across the state auditioned for the prestigious All-State honor, but only about 100 were selected. Scheibe and Wen are also National Merit Semi-Finalists, and plan to pursue careers in music performance and economics, respectively. Flanagan's goal is to teach music at the secondary level. The three musicians all agreed that the secret to their success was "hard work".
