After three days of competition at National Cheerleading Association camp held at Southeast Missouri State University in July, Cape Central High School Varsity and Freshmen cheerleaders are celebrating. Not only did both teams earn National Championship Awards that earned them bids to compete at national events, but Varsity also won the Herkie team award that was voted on by all teams in attendance. The award is for the squad that shows true team spirit, unity and leadership at camp. Freshmen squad had three All-American nominees and Varsity had ten nominees. Named All-Americans were: Abby Addleman, Miccah Davis, Emily Majoros, Lexy Meyer, De'ja Reddin, and Brooke Zoellner. Lexy Meyer, senior Varsity captain, received the Leadership Award. Varsity squad won the Varsity Champion Chant Award as well as the Varsity Game Time Top Team Trophy. Freshmen squad won the Non-Varsity Champion Chant Award. Pictured in the front row are Taylor Clifton, Alexis Runnels, Kameelah England, Alicia Barber, Riley Ferguson, Emily Majoros, Lexy Meyer, Andrea Riebeling, Makayla Hawkins, Kaylee Keesee and Kiersten Lamar.
