I watched my daughter in cross country and thought "I should do that". I watched the East Perry Fair River Run each September and thought "I should try that once". In Sept 2009, I realized I wasn't getting any younger. My first 5K was the Jingle Bell Run, with a goal of 1)not walking, 2) not getting passed by the walkers, and 3) "try" to beat 30 minutes. Obviously, did it for enjoyment, weight control.

April 2016 Boston Marathon, 3:41:37. I ran another marathon in Green Bay 5 weeks later and knocked off another couple minutes. However, at Boston, I worked hard for a sub 3:45 and accomplished it.
Marathon 26.2
I don't know that I have a favorite. I really enjoy meeting my daughter Tori to run downtown Cape, the outskirts of Cape or the Osage Trail. I run from my home in Uniontown most of the time. It's all beautiful.
It's all about what I want to do. I like competition, and I compete mostly with myself. I like training to go faster, because "at my age" I can only get faster or slower (and I prefer faster). I like that everyone who runs can decide at what length they want to go, whether to do it for fitness, enjoyment, speed or whatever. We are all a community of equals, regardless of speed.
