I feel my past 6 years of experience sitting on the board has given me a tremendous understanding of our district, not only where we have come from but also a working knowledge of where we are going. I also feel my background in the financial industry for the past 25 years allows me to bring a level of experience and knowledge in the financial duties of the board.
Addressing diversity in our student population is a tremendous opportunity and challenge. Continuous work with achievement gaps and meeting students where they are at to continually improve every students education. Continue to work on community outreach and building partnerships with both private and non-profit organizations. These are only a few items but I am so proud of the staff we have in place to deliver results for every student in the district every day!
I have a Facebook page dedicated to my position as a board member. I utilize this to post information and also have interactions with the constituents of the district also. My cell number and email address are posted on that page to respond to questions or concerns also. Finally, I am very active in the community and often am approached in public. I welcome input, questions as well as constructive criticisms of the district.
My litmus test for every decision involving board decisions is what is best for our students. I feel this should be the primary focus of any public school district in decision making. Secondly, I feel that data based decisions give the best indicators of not only success but also challenges with in the district. In my opinion, these are the best ways to evaluate, adjust, monitor and guide the district in the decision making process.
