Cape Girardeau Public School Board
State Representative
Do you currently hold the office for which you are running? Yes
I've spent the last three years on the school board, serving as Vice President the last two. I'm a small business owner and taxpayer. I have a Master of Public Administration degree from SEMO, and two kids in the district. I've spent 20 years in volunteer leadership positions in Cape including, Chairman of the Park Board, Vice Chairman of P&Z, President of the Optimists and Chairman of the chamber's Government/Public Policy and Leadership Development Committees.
The district serves many stakeholders including students, taxpayers, teachers, and parents. We must prepare students for the careers of tomorrow. We must be good stewards of taxpayer dollars. We must equip teachers with resources. We owe it to parents to create a safe and diverse learning environment for their children. The greatest challenge any district faces is to strike a balance between the sometimes competing priorities of those stakeholder groups, and others we serve.
It's time to update the district's strategic plan. A good strategic plan clarifies the priorities of the district and community. If reelected, I'm eager to get to work with stakeholders in the district to map out a plan for the future of our schools. We have great students, teachers, parents, and community members. I'm excited to hear from them as we develop that plan to improve the district for the people we serve.
