PRESS RELEASE
CAPE COUNTY TEA PARTY
MONTHLY MEETING
On March 18th, 2014 at 6:30pm, the Cape County Tea Party (CCTP) will hold its open monthly meeting at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. The meeting is called the Third Tuesday Tea Time and is held on the Third Tuesday of each month to continue the work to complete our Mission as stated below.
Candidate Forum:
To inform voters in preparation for the 04/08/14 Municipal Election, the Cape County Tea Party invites all the candidates in contested races for offices within Cape Girardeau County to take part in a Candidate Forum. As of this writing, 6 School Board candidates and 1 Mayoral candidate have agreed to take part.
Depending on turnout, the candidates will be have 3 to 5 minutes to give a 'stump speech' about their candidacy -- who they are, why they are running, what their focus will be while in office, and why citizens should vote for them.
Due to limitations on time, there will be no panel, prepared questions, or question and answer session... ...just a few minutes for voters to hear a little more about each candidate.
Use Tax Discussion:
Upon completion of the Candidate Forum, the topic will turn to the ballot questions. Several groups have held forums regarding the Use Tax question on the 04/08/14 ballot. At Tuesday's meetings, Cape County Tea Party attendees will be given the opportunity to further study and discuss the ballot questions.
