"I'm holding an $11,000 check!" exclaimed Mrs. Jalon Lies, principal of Cape Christian School (CCS), after receiving an $11,250 Ronald McDonald House Charities grant check from local McDonald's restaurant owner Shannon Davis. Davis, who has three children enrolled at CCS, presented the check to Lies in the school's computer lab in mid-December. Grant monies will be used to upgrade the lab with the purchase of new computers.
A priority of CCS, established in 1975, is to provide students in the Cape Girardeau and surrounding areas with an excellent education. The current computer lab was established several years ago to train CCS students in a variety of skills necessary to compete academically and, eventually, in the work place. Upgrades will allow students to receive state-of-the-art technology for research, educational programs, keyboarding and computer skills.
Cape Christian School is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International and currently serves students ages 3 years through 8th grade. The school is located at 1855 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau. Inquiries can be made by calling the school office at 573-335-8333 or visiting the website at www.capechristian.org.
