The Cross Country Conference Championship title will remain at Cape Central High School for another year, thanks to the efforts of the varsity boys team and their coaches during the recent competition at Cape Central. Pictured above are the Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country teams. All-Conference recognition was earned by Eric Schott, Roy Leighton, Brandon Bryant, and Collin Summers. The Varsity Girls placed third with Laura Chavez, Jordyn Richmond and Mary Dohogne earning All-Conference honors. The J.V. Boys team also retained their Championship title led by individual Champ John Ayuso. Others earning J.V. All-Conference Honors were Jawuan Howard, Tony Guidos, Lane Staton, and Austin Pittman. Kendra Kelch was All-Conference in the J.V. Girls race. Long-time coach Mark Hahn, noted for his many team accomplishments, is now assisted by Coach Brian Kelpe, a former Cape Central athlete who competed under the tutelage of Coach Hahn. Cape Central Principal Dr. Mike Cowan said, "I do not believe we could have a better cross country coaching staff than Coaches Hahn and Kelpe. Their athletic skills and enduring influence as positive role models are both beyond question." (Photo courtesy of Checkwood Studio)
