The Cape Central High School Speech and Debate Team brought home several trophies Thursday, Dec. 9, from the Scott City Invitational. Kelsey Martin, pictured kneeling with sister Kaylen Martin, placed first in Storytelling. The team of Lizzie Nussbaum and Claire Herbst, standing at far left, finished first in Public Forum Debate. Others standing left to right, Jake James, Emma Segar, Andrew Lafoe, Lessley Dennington and Tony Guidos, won trophies for the Tigers. Not pictured, Cassidy Brown, Brandon Wells, Jill Bowers and Austin Wicker, broke to finals in the tournament.

The Cape Central High School Junior Varsity Scholar Bowl Team defeated Farmington in the championship game, 200-140, to finish in first place at the North County Invitational tournament Saturday, Dec. 11. Central went undefeated in six games for the day, also defeating North County, Poplar Bluff (twice) and De Smet (twice.) Joshua Sander ranked among the top individual medalists for the tournament.

Junior Varsity Scholar Bowl Team sponsors are Blaine Gotto and Andy Tilmon. Dr. Al Nicolai is the Speech and Debate Team sponsor.
