CAPE GIRARDEAU— Local restaurant, Burrito-Ville, will hold a #GiveBacktoCape fundraising event supporting the Cape Girardeau Fire Department from 5 to 9 p.m. on July 13. CAPE GIRARDEAU— Local restaurant, Burrito-Ville, will hold a #GiveBacktoCape fundraising event supporting the Cape Girardeau Fire Department from 5 to 9 p.m. on July 13.

The #GiveBacktoCape event for the fire department will donate 10 percent of all sales from 5 to 9 p.m., including food, both dine-in and carry out, alcohol, T-shirts and gift certificates. The money raised will go toward the fire department’s training fund.

"We train daily in some aspect of our services, be it fire, medical, rescue or disaster operations," said Fire Chief Rick Ennis. He continued, "We must make sure our training is modern, challenging and realistic."

Ennis said when the fire department members looks into buying new training equipment, they consider others along with themselves. “We purchase training equipment to enhance training for our own firefighters, neighboring firefighters, and/or citizens in the community.”

Attendees at the #GiveBacktoCape event can expect to mingle and eat with firefighters, check out a fire truck and enjoy great food! Kids and families encouraged!
