He was nominated by Staff Sergeant Brandon Dubois of Cape Girardeau, who serves in the Forward Support Company, 1140th Engineer Battalion, Missouri Army National Guard. "Mr. Goez has always provided me the opportunity to meet the requirements that are asked of me by the Guard and the State of Missouri. He has always supported my career as a Solider and pushes me to further myself. He takes an interest in what I am doing as a Guardsmen, and has been extremely happy with the values instilled in me through the training and guidance I have received as a Soldier."

The ESGR Above and Beyond award was created by the US Department of Defense to publicly recognize individuals and businesses who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation's call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation's Guard and Reserve units. Employers are nominated by their military employees.
