Interested in helping your community when disaster strikes?
The Volunteer Intergenerational Center and COAD (Community Organizations Assisting Disasters) are searching for volunteers to be Long Term Recovery Case Managers. What is Long Term Recovery Case Management? It's a system established by a LTRC after a disaster which is designed to address unmet needs of survivors after FEMA and all other resources have ended and to assist individuals and families in developing and executing a recovery plan.
To be a Long Term Recovery Case Manager, your attitude toward clients will be the most important key to being successful. If you believe in the shared humanity of others, will go the extra mile for someone in need, are willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt, can treat each person as an individual and can foster a return to independence, you will be successful as a trained volunteer Case Manager.
Training will be held on Tuesday, August 17 and Wednesday, August 18 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. both days at the Jefferson County Hazardous Material Building located at 1515 Herculaneum Industrial Drive in Herculaneum, Missouri. For further information and details, please contact the Volunteer Intergenerational Center at 573-335-7555 or 573-887-3664.
