The Alzheimer's Association St. Louis Chapter and Adam E. Stone, present the world premiere of "A Life Unhappening". Celebrate Mother's Day with a unique performance that blends the beauty of the arts with the science of a critical public health crisis. This spoken-word ballet explores the impact of Alzheimer's disease on three generations of one woman's family.
The performance is choreographed to a pre-recorded audio track, in which the nine-scene narrative unfolds presenting an artist's stunning perspective on the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease. The performance features the voices of Grammy Award winning musician and actress, Thirza Defoe and novelist, playwright and filmmaker, Diane Glancy. Lighting design orchestrated by technical editor of "Lighting & Sound America" and "Lighting & Sound International", Richard Cadena. An ASL interpreter will supplement the performance and HEC-TV will broadcast the performance live, worldwide on hectv.org
The premieres of "A Life Unhappening" will take place at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, May 11, at the beautiful Touhill Performing Arts Center on the UMSL Campus and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 13 at the Donald C. Bedell Center on the River Campus at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. For more information and tickets, visit www.alz.org/stl.
There will be a short intermission after the performance, followed by a panel discussion with the writer, choreographer, lighting designer, dancers and a representative from the Alzheimer's Association. Thus, providing both an entertaining and enlightening evening.
