SPRIGG-LEXINGTON STREET WORK ADDS TO CITY'S NETWORK
(Editorial ~ 07/12/95)
The cost of extending North Sprigg Street will be less than previous estimates. The city had figured the cost of extending Sprigg from Bertling to the soon-to-be-constructed Lexington would cost more than $861,000. The low bid of $511,164 was a pleasant surprise that will benefit taxpayers. Construction will begin in August and could be completed by year's end...

SPEAKOUT
(Speak Out ~ 07/12/95)
I WAS just listening to the news, and they were talking about the heat wave and how hard it is for people who do not have air conditioners and how they need help in buying the air conditioners. I think the people of Cape Girardeau ought to consider the school children in August when it is very, very hot and the humidity is very high. They too would like to have air conditioning and be able to learn in comfort. It is very difficult to teach when the children are very, very hot...

SPEAKOUT
(Speak Out ~ 07/12/95)

Many other people feel as I do. Until such time as the hiring of teachers is placed back into the hands of the school board and the principals of Cape Girardeau schools, we will continue to vote negative on anything that they want...
