__What is the most important issue facing Woodland Public Schools? What can be done about it?__
I think both drugs and bullying are equally important issues that our children face. Our school has taken measures to help eliminate both of these problems by having an active resource officer on campus. Sgt. Petton not only combats the issues of drugs and bullying, but also gives parents peace of mind knowing he is available to protect our children if the need arises.
__What in your background or education makes you qualified for this office?__
I have been a member of the Woodland Community Booster Club since it was organized in 2005. I have served as both president and treasurer. During this time I have worked closely with the Woodland staff and administrators. This experience has helped me to better understand the needs of our school and students. I feel this knowledge will help me serve as a school board member.
__Where do you stand on the issue of Common Core standards?__
Common Core standardization is obviously a controversial subject and comes with both positive and negative consequences for our school system. I do believe that our children need to be held to a high academic standard. I plan on researching Common Core further and will value input from teachers, staff, administrators and parents.
__Do you think the Woodland School District is a good place for teachers to work? Why or why not?__
I think our school would be a good place for any teacher to work. I feel our school is very appealing because we are located in a small community. Our school still believes in teaching good morals and values to our students. Our staff and administration's top priority is the students and preparing them for the future. They are committed to ensuring our children get the best education possible.
