Aug. 22, 1905

Quarantine was put on today

Following the visit to the city yesterday evening of two members of the state board of health, the quarantine was put on today.

The city board of health is superintending the work.

Two doctors were at the trains at noon demanding that all passengers on trains from the South show certificates.

It will be a hard matter to investigate every passenger, but the board will probably ask the Frisco railroad to order conductors to notify the passengers before they arrive.

[Editor's note: On the date this story was written, there was a yellow fever epidemic in the southern United States, which prompted this quarantine.]
