  • In September 1999, Scott Pingel, then a senior receiver at Westminster College, put his name in the record book by passing NFL legend Jerry Rice on the NCAA all-time receptions list. Pingel, a former second-team all-state quarterback at Perryville St. Vincent, broke two other significant NCAA college football career records that season. He became the NCAA's career leader in receiving yards and touchdown receptions.

He still holds the marks for receptions (436), yards (6,108) and tops Division III in TD catches (75).

  • Southeast Missouri State University baseball player Kerry Robinson earned his college fame in 1995 by putting together a hitting streak of 35 consecutive games, which at the time set an Ohio Valley Conference record.

Robinson ended the season with a .385 batting average.

He was selected in the 34th round of the 1995 draft and has played professionally ever since.
