What is the most important issue facing Marble Hill?
Getting businesses into our town so that we can generate tax dollars. There are a lot of other issues we need to address besides this one, but we can do nothing without revenue. You can't fix sewers or water line with just talk. We have several buildings vacant in our town that could be put to good use and bring in much needed tax dollars, but they are sitting empty.
What in your education or background makes you qualified for this office?
I lived in Chicago for 10 years and was the maintenance supervisor of a 500-unit apartment complex along with several minimalls, so I understand working with employees. I also know what it takes to work on sewers, water lines and other maintenance issues. These are common problems that come up in our city and need to be dealt with, and I feel I have a lot of knowledge in this area. I also believe I have common sense and that goes a long way in problem-solving.
Why are you better qualified than your opponent(s)?
I have lived in this town all my life, with the exception of the 10 years I spent in Chicago. I love this town and moved back here to raise my children because it is such a special place. I think the main qualification a person needs to run for any city office is that they are a real part of the community and want to make it better. When anyone has come to me with a problem, I have tried to handle it or make sure I put them in touch with who could take care of it. Then I always follow up to make sure it was addressed. Some issues take longer to deal with than others, but I never give up working on a solution.
