It was a development residents of Scott City had been waiting on for years. In December of 2012, it finally happened. A new outer road over Ramsey Creek was completed and will ease a traffic bottleneck in the city. The project began in October of 2010, when a groundbreaking ceremony was held in front of William Nobbe & Co., marking the start of construction to Route AB. The project was designed to provide an alternate route to Interstate 55 and to ease congestion going into and leaving Scott City. Heavy spring rains and flooding in 2011 delayed the project.

__June 14__ -- In an effort to speed up the settling process at the future site of the bridge at Ramsey Creek Corridor, workers piled extra material on top of the fill dirt. Moisture and organic materials in the ground caused the settling and delayed the project.

__Aug. 7__ -- An open-house community briefing was held at the Scott City city hall to discuss construction of an interchange south of Scott City, part of Missouri Department of Transportation's effort to ease congestion in the city.

__Dec. 18__ -- After two years of construction, a ribbon was cut officially opening the outer road that connected the two ends of Scott City at routes K and AB. Although the ceremony marked the official completion of the Ramsey Creek Project, the almost three-mile stretch of road wasn't ready for traffic. Guardrails needed to be installed at the Ramsey Creek Bridge, more striping needed to be done on the road, and road signs needed to be erected, tasks that were projected to take another week or two.
