Past political campaigns: This is the first time I have sought a political office
1. What is the biggest reason that you are running for this post?
Answer: I have wanted to run for a public office for the last several elections. I have successfully run two small business for over 10 years now and have gained a lot of leadership skills. I would like to use those same skills to serve the citizens of Perry County and give back to the this great community that I have have been raised in. I truly enjoy meeting and helping people, and I feel that a public office would provide me more opportunities to do this.
2. What are the three biggest issues facing Perry County, and how do you plan to address them?
Answer: 1) Ongoing road/bridge maintenance in light of rising costs an constrained budgets
2. Better pay for the sheriff's department employees
3. Work on a plan to provide updated equipment and ongoing maintenance for county jail
3. How do you feel that the county government should work with the cities and townships within the county?
Answer: Hand in hand. I feel that all of the community's agencies whether city or county need to work in sync with each other. If the different government agencies work together on common problems, then more efficient and better options can be identified. The goal is to find viable solutions to all problems or issues raised by using all of the resources available. i believe there should be common forums between the county and city on some frequency to see where the two separate groups can work together on common problems.
4. Why do you feel you're the best candidate for the job?
Answer: I have been a member of this community all my life and plan to be until God takes me home. Therefore, I have a vested interest in the county and its citizens being successful. I believe that our county needs people to run for its offices that are common citizens of the community versus polished politicians who have outside interests at heart. I have no ulterior motive for running, except to serve the citizens of Perry County in the best way I know how. I hope that the citizens of the district 1 give me the opportunity to serve them as their commissioner. Thanks in advance for your support. If you would like to discuss what you see as the opportunities in the county, please give me a call at 517-0698.
