1. Would you support resurrecting the idea of the half-cent sales tax for law enforcement?
Answer: Under the current economic situation, I would not be in favor of asking the people of Scott County for a half-cent sales tax. Upon the improvement of the economic situation, however, I would consider a half-cent sales tax increase for law enforcement.
2. How do you propose the county deal with the ever-declining revenue to fund 911 operations?
Answer: I am a firm believer in eh consolidation of local services such as 911, excluding Sikeston. All other ares of the county, i.e. Benton, Chaffee, Oran, Morley, Commerce, etc., would respond to one central 911 communication center. Currently, we have dispatchers for county and town law enforcement, fire, etc. I feel that each of the cities and towns, excluding Sikeston, which has dispatcher contribute to the operation of the 911 communications center.
3. Like other rural Southeast Missouri counties, Scott County is in need of more quality jobs to retain its work force and improve quality of life. How would you attract industry to the county?
Answer: This will be one of my major priorities, if I am fortunate enough to be elected 2nd District commissioner. I would work hard in marketing Scott County in an attempt to attract new industry to our county.
4. What makes you the best candidate for the job?
Answer: If elected 2nd District commissioner, I will work as a full-time commissioner for the people of Scott County. The job of commissioner is not a part-time position. It is a full-time position, one which answers to the needs of the people of Scott County.
