1. Explain your understanding of how property should be assessed as well as the assessor's role in county government.
The appraiser should first know all aspects of the local real estate market: what properties are selling for, the cost for local construction, repair cost, and current financing to buy or build. After this information, then the assessor can figure a market value which is used to do the property assessment.
the assessor's role in county government is the basis for which the annual property taxes are estimated-this is to ensure all individuals are treated equally and fairly for each individual parcel of real estate owned.
2. Why do you feel you're the best candidate for the job?
I have worked part time for both the Perry County Assessor office and Perry County collector, and with my experience and state certified appraiser, I have first hand knowledge of how the office of assessor operates on a day-to-day basis.
