Advanced Pest Control owner Gene E. Schuessler saw a need for a quality pest control firm in the area. On Sept. 1, 1980, he and his good friend and (at that time) business partner, Jim Dodd, started Advanced Pest Control Systems Inc. The next year, Gene's son Gary returned to Cape Girardeau and joined the business. Advanced Pest Control Systems now is in its 36th year of business and growing. The business currently has 20 field technicians and an office staff of four. Advanced Pest Control Systems is still family-run: Gene's son, Gary, daughter Deanna, and wife, Dorothy, all are active in the business.
