March must-haves By Rachel McNeely It's March. Our bank account is beginning to recover from the holidays, we're finally able to slip back in to our pre-November jeans (now that we've polished off those chocolates from St. Valentine), and it's time to brave the stores again in search of gifts for our favorite recipient of all: ourselves!...

Now, I'll be the first to admit we've had quite an unpredictable winter this year -- we had floods, ice, and Santa even managed to slip in what appeared to be an extra spring break. (What was that??) It's been a season not unlike a favorite suspense thriller, leaving me glued to my weather app a minimum of three times a day for three months, but hey, it appears we survived. Hopefully Phil meant it when he told us spring was headed our way soon!

If you can expect anything from spring, it's that you can't predict anything from spring (you should remember this from the original spring we had back in December). One thing you can be sure of about March, though, is it's good for kites and bad for hair.

What better way to embrace the windblown look of spring than by making it look intentional? Turbans offer an excuse to hit snooze one more time (spring forward, anyone?), as well as a quick, easy way to add a bright pop of color to an otherwise lackluster look. Buy a pre-assembled piece or save money by finding an easy DIY post online. Then you can tie down yesterday's curls for a carefree boho vibe, especially when paired with a long, flowing maxi skirt of a complementary print and/or color.

Another transitional look to help you brave the morning frostbite and, later, the afternoon heat wave, is pairing a slouchy sweater over a colorful pleated maxi skirt. Have a skirt you just can't wait to wear? Throw on that off-shoulder chunky cable-knit you're not yet ready to put to bed for the season, and you have the perfect transition from winter to spring, and from chilly mornings to warm afternoons. Still feel like it's missing something? Hello, turban!
