__What is the most important issue facing Leopold Public Schools? What can be done about it?__
The most challenging aspect of being a smaller district is being as efficient as possible with your allocated budget. When running a business, you have to continue to look for ways to improve efficiency and the same principles would apply with our school district.
__What in your background or education makes you qualified for this office?__
I am a graduate of Leopold High School and have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Southeast Missouri State University with a business option. I was a software developer and designer for 10+ years and have owned and managed a business for the past 4+ years.
__Where do you stand on the issue of Common Core standards?__
I strongly oppose Common Core Standards. A federally mandated anything and especially education curriculum would be harmful to our school district. The standards and teaching practices within a school district should be controlled as much as possible at a local level and not from a federal curriculum one size fits all idea. Teachers should be trusted with the ability to customize their teaching practices dependent on the students in their classroom.
__Do you think the Leopold School District is a good place for teachers to work? Why or why not?__
Yes I believe it is. In order for a teacher to be successful in a public school district they have to have the support of the parents and the community. It is a team effort and I believe the parents in the Leopold School district support the school and teachers in wanting the best education for the districts students.
