What is the best solution for uptown traffic problems -- a roundabout, stoplights or some other answer?: I know this has been an issue of discussion for some time now. The Board of Aldermen is currently looking at this situation and I am hopeful that I will be helping them resolve the problem of traffic congestion downtown. I have been going door to door and this subject has come up several times. I don't think many of the citizens want a roundabout. My personal opinion is similar. Traffic lights would seem to be a better option, but I would like to see the plans and get more input from the citizens of Jackson before I could make a final decision on this matter.
Does Jackson need a new fire station? If so, how should it be financed -- a bond issue, new taxes or other solution?: I believe that Jackson would benefit from a new fire station. If Jackson wants to continue to compete with other cities throughout the nation for industry location, we need to ensure that we have modern facilities and public services. I believe a bond would be an effective method for funding the new project.
What in your background or education makes you qualified for this office?: Coming from a small town and living in different communities is an advantage for me as I have insight on how things have been done elsewhere. I have small town values and big ideas. I too have benefited from my position as a mechanical superintendent in that I have learned how to allocate resources and utilize them effectively. I have experience in resolving issues effectively and quickly. I look forward to applying these traits as I work with the Board of Aldermen for years to come.
