Reason for running: I want to be a working commissioner. I have heard from board members complaints that they don’t have enough money to do this, don’t have enough money. I know there are grants available. I plan to go after them.
Other experience: As a young man in my 20s, I worked two years in road construction and have a working knowledge of what needs to be done to keep a road long lasting and not continually be patching it all the time.
Main challenges: The main challenge facing the district is the ability to obtain the proper equipment, stay within the budget and pick up additional funding from the state and federal government that has not been tapped.
Main assets: What they are doing is they are trying to plan ahead, looking ahead rather than day-to-day. The board is trying to develop a long-term view and we have got some good people here. We just need a little more help to organized, and get some more equipment in here.
Communication: The basic thing is to keep my phone open to them and be available to them, let them know who I am. I will be there at every meeting and do what needs to be done.
