HillCrest will soon have medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction and alcohol dependency.
The recent economic downturn has increased the level of stress among many professionals, in particular those working in the financial and legal fields. According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Cornell University, this has resulted in an increase in alcohol and substance abuse and depression.
HillCrest Pointe offers a private behavioral health and substance abuse treatment program that allows its guests to meet their addictions and compulsion face to face in a secluded, focused environment.
"HillCrest Pointe was established to meet the increased demand for private treatment services from individuals locally and across the country," said executive director John Gary.
"If someone in our region is in need of private, exclusive behavioral health or substance abuse treatment, they no longer have to travel out of state to receive this service. They can remain closer to home, work and family, which is going to positively aid in their recovery success."
Located near Cape Girardeau, HillCrest Pointe is operated by the same board of directors that oversees the Gibson Recovery Center.
Guests at HillCreste Pointe will benefit from the staff of professionals from a variety of specialties who will focus on the individual's recovery. The innovative programs and therapy sessions are designed to address a broad range of substance abuse, alcohol addiction, compulsive behaviors and mental health disorders.
The treatment program is tailored to the individual's needs, with intensive one-on-one counseling to help uncover the root cause of the addiction. A personalized recovery plan is then developed.
HillCrest Pointe not only offers treatment programs for alcohol and substance abuse but also individualized and group programs to treat process addictions such as gaming, Internet and sex addictions.
The center has been certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. HillCrest Pointe staff has been accredited by the International Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
Opened in 2009, the services available at HillCrest Pointe will continue to evolve throughout 2010.
The center is the in the process of finalizing details for a new medical director, according to Gary. The director will oversee the medication-assisted therapies, as well as the medical and psychological components of addiction and recovery.
"Virtually all behavioral health issues have biochemical and/or physiological implications," Gary said about the medication-assisted therapies. "The implications can be the direct cause of an individual using drugs or alcohol to cope with the feelings that arise within from those conditions."
Gary said failure to address and correct those deficiencies could lead to failure of treatment or a relapse later.
Medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction will be available at HillCrest Pointe soon, using the prescription drug Suboxone. Another prescription drug, Vivitrol, will be available to treat alcohol dependency. Gary said that in nationwide studies both of those treatments have shown significant benefits in helping individuals overcome those addictions.
