Golden Globe Awards red carpet fashion

A roundup of the best and worst fashion from the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards red carpet.

Jennifer Lawerence is one of Hollywood's major "It" girls of the moment, and she's had some major fashion moments in the last year. But this isn't her best outing...far from it. She's the face of Dior, and wears their designs exclusively at award shows. This white tulle dress is pretty enough, but fits awkwardly around the hips and rear, adding volume where no one wants it. She's still beautiful, the dress isn't. J. Law is young, fresh and stylish -- Dior should put her in more fashion-forward gowns like...

Michelle Dockery is lovely in this gray and gold gown. Simple and stunning.

I go back and forth on Sandra Bullock's color-blocked gown. I like it, but I don't love it. And I think two things could change that: A belt to provide definition at the waist and losing the blue at the bottom. But I adore the pink lining the peeps out at the bottom.

You know what, Lena Dunham tried. The neckline on this Zac Posen gown isn't the most flattering and better posture would help the overall effect, but I like this so much better than the sack gowns she's worn in the past. I don't even hate the color.

I just can't with this dress. The sheer panel, the patwork fabrics, the embellishments, the straps. Zoe Saldana can do so much better.

And now for baby bumps on parade! Olivia Wilde did it best in a stunning green sparkly gown...

Kerry Washington was good in this Balenciaga, but the seaming on the bust was a little ill-fitting...

And Drew Barrymore looks like a Valentine. And that's not a compliment.

This Dior backless gown/pants combo worn by Emma Watson. (Hermione who?) It's definitely a risk, but one that Watson (and Lawrence) have the youth and attitude to pull off.

Cate Blanchett is stunning. Period. She looks regal in this black lace Armani Prive. Perfection.

If you haven't seen "12 Years a Slave," you might not recognize Lupita Nyong'o. But you'll definitely know who she is by the end of awards season if she keeps dressing like this. She ruled the red carpet in a gorgeous Ralph Lauren caped gown. And had the good sense to keep the accessories simple. (Sofia Vegara, take note.)

This dress made some worst-dressed lists, but I don't see it. Reese Witherspoon looks AH-mazing! Love the color, love the hair, love the gold clutch. I will say, a statement earring or great cuff would have been icing on the cake.

No blurred lines here...Paula Patton, what were you thinking? Maybe she's overcompensating for the lack of clothes in her hubby Robin Thicke's music video. Too much fabric, too much white, too much ruffle. This was my worst of the night.

Sofia Vergara didn't wear a mermaid dress! I thought I'd never see the day. She looks lovely in a Zac Posen ball gown, but the turquoise necklace is overkill, in my opinion. Sometimes simple is best.

So, Julia Roberts Dolce and Gabbana gown included a button-down shirt under the dress. I guess when you're as beautiful as she is, you can wear just about anything and not look bad. Because she doesn't look bad here...and I guarantee if anyone else wore this, they'd be worst dressed. But Julia is Julia. I just wish the shirt would have been tailored better...

Amy Adams took a page from her "American Hustle" character with this plunging neckline. The color is lovely on her and the necklace hits at just the right spot. Her hair is a little to prom up-do for my liking, though.
