Question 1: What do you see as Bollinger County's biggest challenge and greatest needs?
Answer: Finding new way to generate more revenue, going after grant money, making sure the businesses we now have in the Co. stay in the Co. and that we encourage more people to start their own new business. We also need to continue to improve our Co. roads, and to see that ours Sheriffs Dept. will continue to operate within budget as I am sure they have faced many budget cuts.
Question 2: What do you see as the county commission's role in economic development in Bollinger County?
Answer: I feel that we need to do whatever we can to go after tourism and to encourage people in the Co. to start new businesses.I would also encourage the Co. commission to be very envolved in the WIB (Workforce Investment Board). We are also blessed to have several campgrounds and private lakes that people come to and use and we need to make sure we help them to stay in business, as well as all businesses.
Questions 3: What can the county as a whole do to ensure improvement of highways in Bollinger County, especially Highway 34 and Highway 51?
Answer: We need to continue to show up to the meetings that MODOT has to improve these roads and to voice our concerns and keep doing it until they listen. The more people that show up for these meetings the more our voices are heard. As long as we come together as a community then and only then will we see things happen.Everyone need to get involved not just a few.
Question 4: Given the current economy, what do you see happening to the Bollinger County budget? Cutbacks? Status Quo? Increasing revenue?
Answer: I believe we need to tighten our belts, see where we can make cuts if any, work on getting grants and encourage people to start new businesses and make sure the businesses we have now stay in business.I'm sure there my be areas we can make some cuts but in other areas I believe that we don't need anymore cuts such as the sheriffs dept, they are operating on a shoestring now.
Closing remarks: I would like to ask the people of Bo.Co. for their vote and support.I will do my best to work for work for all the people.People can reach me any time by my cell phone (573-382-0040) or home phone(573-238-4346). I will represent the people of Bo.Co.in a professional manner and will do my best to see that Bo. Co. is well represented among the other counties in the state. I look forward to the challenge ahead.
