Bob Miller
AGE: 32
FAMILY: Married to Callie, two sons, Drew, 11; and Dawson, 11 months.
EMPLOYER: Southeast Missourian
POSITION: Editor
COMMUNITY AND PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT: Participating in Leadership Jackson with the Jackson Chamber of Commerce
HIS TYPICAL DAY:
No two days are the same. My job duties include managing the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, working with reporters and photographers on stories and planning, brainstorming and carrying out news initiatives for the print and online products; and preparing the annual newsroom budget. That means I visit a lot with staff, return a million e-mails every day and go to a ton of meetings.
Most satisfying thing about your work: Putting people in positions to succeed and witnessing them use their talent and passion to exceed expectations. Also, watching our newsroom come to life when big stories break gives me goose bumps.
HIS WORST HAIRCUT:
I had two really bad haircuts in high school: A flat-top and a mini-mullet. Yikes. I suffered a bit of an identity crisis in high school.
FAVORITE SONG FROM THE '80s:
"Livin' on a Prayer," Bon Jovi. Learned it at a jump-roping fundraiser. Apparently I was the only one in my grade who hadn't memorized the song. I had it memorized by the end of the jump-a-thon.
BIGGEST FIRST-DAY BLOOPER:
Showing up at all. I won't name the employer, but it wasn't my current one.
