2013 SAG Awards fashion

Back in Black could have been the theme of the 2013 SAG Awards red carpet as dark dresses and side-swept hair dominated. Here, some of the most memorable (whether good or bad) looks.

Amanda Seyfried nailed it in this navy Zac Posen gown. I love that she opted for a simple, long necklace. It gives it more of a youthful vibe. My one complaint? Her complaining during her E! interview about how uncomfortable she was in the dress. You're an actor: Act!

Julianne Moore in Chanel. This should be a winning combination but it isn't. The dress looks boxy on top and the applique flowers make her look bottom heavy. MAYBE better tailoring would've helped, but I doubt it.

It's so hard to say something negative about Anne Hathaway, especially when she accepts awards with such charm and grace, but I don't love this dress. I almost like it, though. Maybe if the tulle on the sides wasn't so thick or if there was a slit in the front, it would've worked better for me. From the waist up, I think she looks flawless.

I like Kerry Washington, but I'm afraid she's my worst dressed for the night. The bustier top that flattens her chest and the lace on the skirt are just too, too much. As a friend said, it looks like she's wearing what should be worn under another dress.

Ben Affleck may have been a winner, but his wife, Jennifer Garner was golden. Simple, classic, stunning. Enough said.

Elizabeth Moss said she wanted to be comfortable and that's why she went with a short dress. This is how you do comfort on the red carpet. Her hair and makeup are flawless and I love the silver and rhinestone clutch that pops against the black.

Sally Field looks cute in this purple dress. And that's a problem: A 60-something year old woman shouldn't want to be described as cute. She needs to take some pointers from Helen Mirren on how to dress fashionably, sexy and age-appropriate for the red carpet.

Lea Michele went for sweet over sexy in this hot pink gown, and it looks fantastic on her. What doesn't look fantastic is that dip-dyed hair job. I thought blond tips went out of style with boy bands in the early 2000s.

Jessica Chastain looks beautiful in this strapless red gown. I'm bored by it, though.

I've been loving Michelle Dockery on the red carpet this season. At the Golden Globes she was classic and elegant. Here's she goes for edgy and sexy and looks just as good. I love the sheer, almost-too-revealing trim on the dress.

Normally I'm a fan of Claire Danes on the red carpet. But this was a miss for me. The dark lip and ponytail don't really work with the dress. And, I'm not a huge fan of the dress itself with voluminous sleeve.

Does this look look familiar? Like Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet in a strapless navy gown and side-swept hair. It's not the best J. Law has looked, but it's still pretty dang good. Especially considering she'd had the flu and it was questionable if she was going to make the show. Ultimately, this dress will probably be remembered for the wardrobe malfunction that wasn't actually a wardrobe malfunction. Tina Fey kept is simple and classic. She looks good, albeit a little boring. But, given her awards show fashion history, that's probably a good thing.

Jane Krakowski said she wasn't sure about the color of her gown, and I have to say I agree. I'm not loving it on her.

Marion Cotillard is my runner-up for best dressed. It's just a classic dress that she wore well. You can't go wrong with white and navy Dior, with a stunning diamond necklace.

Sofia Vergara's dress is made of white lame material. That's all I needed to hear to confirm my thoughts on this dress: It looks cheap. I appreciate she did something outside of her norm (figure hugging, vavavoom gowns), but this looks like a gown I saw on Project Runway five years ago.

Julie Bowen wore a leather dress on the red carpet. And you know what? It worked. I don't think it would've for many actresses, but she pulled it off.

I'm always excited to see what crazy get up January Jones will show up in. This black-and-white number is pretty tame, and boring, by her standards. But her hair? It's a bouffant mullet.
