Scott and Kay Vangilder of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Jane Vangilder, to Kevin Michael Ballatore. He is the son of Spirito and Kathi Ballatore of Valley Ford, Calif.
Vangilder received a bachelor of science degree in human environmental studies from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008. She is completing a dietetic internship through the university.

Ballatore received a bachelor of arts degree from Southeast in 2006, and is pursuing a master of arts degree in physical education from the University of Phoenix. He is a football coach at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, Calif.
A June 13 wedding is planned at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
