Schumer received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1999. She is a sixth grade science teacher at Sikeston Public Schools.

Evans attended Thiele College in Pennsylvania. He is a senior logistics specialist with Combat Equipment Group Europe in the U.S. Army.
