Porter - Rains

Don and Chris Porter of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Emma Lisabeth Porter, to Michael Earl Rains Jr. He is the son of Mike and Nancy Rains of Ellis Grove, Illinois.

Emma is a 2007 graduate of Central High School. She received a degree in early childhood and elementary education from the University of Missouri in 2011, and is pursuing a master's degree in reading. She is a reading teacher for the Jackson School District.

Michael is a 2004 graduate of Sparta High School. He received a bachelor's degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 2009. He is employed at AT&T.

A Sept. 26 wedding is planned at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
