Nguyen - Balsamo

Peter and Valerie Nguyen of Chesapeake, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Thao Thu Nguyen of Virginia Beach, Va., to Luke Hodgson Balsamo of Norfolk, Va. He is the son of Charles and Sue Balsamo of Cape Girardeau.

Nguyen is a graduate of Indian River High School in Chesapeake, and received bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees from the University of Richmond. She is a partnership vice president with United Surgical Physicians International.

Balsamo is a graduate of Central High School, and received bachelor of science and medical degrees from the University of Rochester. He is an orthopaedic surgeon with the U.S. Navy in Portsmouth, Va.

The couple plans a May 28, 2011, wedding.
