Maxwell-du Lac

J.R. "Bob" and Mary Jane Maxwell of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Lesli Anne Maxwell, to Joshua Freedom du Lac, both of Washington, D.C. He is the son of Diana du Lac of Walnut Creek, Calif., and the late Jean Antony du Lac.

Maxwell is a 1991 graduate of Central High School, 1995 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, and received a master's degree in journalism from the University of California-Berkeley in 1998. She was recently a reporter for The Sacramento Bee in California. Beginning in February she will be a reporter for Education Week in Bethesda, Md.

Du Lac is a 1989 graduate of Lowell High School in San Francisco, Calif., and a 1993 graduate of Whittier College in Los Angeles. He is the pop music critic for The Washington Post.

A May 6 wedding is planned in Saratoga, Calif.
