Matthews - Obergoenner

Mark and Susan Matthews of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Jo Matthews, to Todd Richard Obergoenner. He is the son of Don Obergoenner of Effingham, Ill., and Mary Obergoenner of Cape Girardeau.

Matthews is a 2008 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She expects to receive a bachelor of science degree in communication science disorders from Missouri State University May 18. She plans to pursue a master's degree in speech/language pathology at Southeast Missouri State University this fall.

Obergoenner is a 2004 graduate of Central High School. He received a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Southern Illinois University in 2009. He is pro shop manager at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson.

A July 21 wedding is planned at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
