Norman and Sharon Hughes of Scott City announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa Hughes, to Joseph Thomas. He is the son of Kathy Thomas of Charleston, Mo., and the late James Thomas of Roseville, Ill.

Hughes received a bachelor of science degree in marketing management from Southeast Missouri State University in 2009. She is employed by Theodore Eftink, CPA, in Sikeston, Mo.
