SIKESTON, Mo. -- Rodney and Emily Gibson of Sikeston announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Marie Gibson, to Grant Carlton Cansler. He is the son of Joel and Debbie Cansler of Kansas City, Mo.

Gibson received bachelor degrees in business and Spanish from William Jewell College in 2002, and is attending graduate school at Rockhurst University. She is a solutions analyst at Cerner Corp.

Cansler received a bachelor's degree in music theory and composition from William Jewell College in 2002. He is president of Liberty Commodities and is a chef at the American Restaurant.

An Aug. 16 wedding is planned at Silent Unity Chapel.
