ENGAGEMENTS; FORD-CARRINGTON

Van and Mary Kay Smith of Cape Girardeau and John Ford of Springfield, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Montgomery Ford, to Cpl. Joey Alan Carrington. He is the son of David and Torchie Beatty of Frisco, Texas, and Charles Carrington of Fort Worth, Texas.

Ford is a graduate of Kickapoo High School in Springfield. She received a bachelor of arts degree in educational and counseling psychology from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1996. She is pursuing a master's degree in communication disorders from Southeast Missouri State University.

Carrington is a graduate of Little Elm High School in Frisco. He is a corporal in the U.S. Army, and is a satellite communications specialist with the Special Forces Group-Airborne Division based in Fort Campbell, Ky.

An Oct. 7 wedding is planned at Centenary United Methodist Church.
