Carla Clippard of Jackson announces the engagement of her daughter, Laurie Jean Clippard, to Derek Michael Kluesner of Cape Girardeau. He is the son of Keith and Beverly Kluesner of Cape Girardeau. Laurie also is the daughter of the late Tim Clippard.
Laurie is a 2011 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in 2015. She is a registered nurse in the neuro unit at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Derek is a 2010 graduate of Jackson High School. He is an electrician with IBEW Local One.
A Nov. 5 wedding is planned at First Baptist Church in Jackson.
