Beussink - Nelson

Brent and Geri Beussink of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Beussink, to Derek Nelson, both of Chicago. He is the son of Noleen Nelson of Arlington Heights, Ill., and the late Stuart Nelson Jr.

Beussink is a 2005 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She received a bachelor of health science degree in diagnostic ultrasound in 2009, and a master of health science degree in diagnostic ultrasound in 2010, from the University of Missouri. She is a research sonographer at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Nelson is a 2004 graduate of John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. He received a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 2008. He is a partner and creative director at Clique Studios in Chicago.

A Sept. 22 wedding is planned at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo.
