Banks-Halter

Dixie Banks of Des Moines, Iowa, announces the engagement of her daughter, Stacy Lee Banks, to Derek Lee Halter. He is the son of Mary Meyer of Leopold, Mo., and Michael Halter of Cape Girardeau. Banks is also the daughter of the late George Banks.

Banks is a 1994 graduate of Van Meter High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Iowa, and a master of arts degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is a math teacher at Antioch Middle School in the North Kansas City School District.

Halter is a 1994 graduate of Leopold High School. He received an associate's degree from Linn State Technical College. He is employed with the United States Postal Service at Lees Summit, Mo.

A Sept. 18 wedding is planned at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Des Moines.
