Lisa and Brian Jansen of Des Moines, Iowa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayla Rae Abbott, to Matthew Ray Johnston, both of West Des Moines, Iowa. He is the son of Terry and Darlene Johnston of Scott City.

Kayla expects to graduate this year from William Penn University with a degree in business management.

Matthew received a bachelor of arts and strength and conditioning degree from William Penn in 2007. He is a personal trainer at Prairie Life Fitness in Des Moines.

A May 31 wedding is planned at Lutheran Church of Hope in Des Moines.
