SIKESTON, Mo. -- Sikeston police arrested a suspect they believe robbed and stabbed a Sikeston cab driver just after 1 a.m. Monday.
Charlie T. Hale, 38, of Sikeston said he picked up a fare on Sixth Street and took him to the area of Vernon Street where he was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash and stabbed in the chest by the passenger. Hale was able to drive himself back to Jay's Taxi, and gave police a description of his assailant.
Sikeston investigators arrested Braxton Thomas Cray, 22, who allegedly confessed to stabbing Hale. He is being held on one count each of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Bond was set at $50,000.
Hale is in Sikeston's Missouri Delta Medical Center in guarded condition.
