Sikeston woman hurt in accident

BENTON, Mo. -- An Sikeston, Mo., woman sustained moderate injuries Saturday in a collision on Interstate 55, one mile south of Benton.

Helen Angle, 66, was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau after the 11:39 a.m. accident.

She was a passenger in a northbound vehicle driven by Carrie Smith, 78, of Sikeston. Smith sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, James Parks, 38, of Ellington, Mo., was not injured.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Parks' northbound truck ran into the rear of Smith's passenger car. Parks was cited for careless and imprudent driving.
