Perryville man killed; others seriously injured

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A young Perryville man was killed early Friday morning when the pickup truck he was riding in struck an embankment.

Robert Hampson, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1 a.m. crash on Route T at the Saline Creek Bridge in Perry County.

The driver, Chad Perkins, 20, of Perryville was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Two more passengers, Natalie Kinnison, 15, of Perryville and Jason Amschler, 21, of Pearl, Mo., were both taken by helicopter to Cape Girardeau hospitals with serious injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the westbound vehicle ran off the right side of the road before striking the embankment.
