Federal prosecutor Catherine L. Hanaway released the following items.
Pleaded guilty
Name: Joseph B. Cannon
Age: 28
Residence: Sikeston, Mo.
Charges: Previously convicted felon in possession of firearm
Summary: On Oct. 8, 2007, a Cape Girardeau police officer approached Cannon concerning another investigation. Cannon fled and was apprehended. During the chase, he threw down a Colt .32-caliber pistol, which was seized by officers.
Sentence: Up to 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing set for June 10, 2008.
Pleaded guilty
Name: Jason J. Jones
Age: 21
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: Possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base
Summary: On Sept. 4, 2007, members of the Cape Girardeau Police Department and the Southeast Missouri drug task force executed a search warrant at Jones' residence. Over 200 grams of a cocaine base were recovered in the bust. They found Jones and his girlfriend in the master bedroom and Jones admitted the cocaine base belonged to him.
Sentence: 10 to 40 years imprisonment and or a $4,000,000 fine.
