Four people were injured in two motor vehicle accidents over the weekend.

In Cape Girarardeau County, an accident occurred Saturday on U.S. 61 half a mile south of Route C. Zachary Stovall, 20, of Cape Girardeau received serious injuries and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center.

Derek Birk, 21, and Angela Weaver, 21, both of Jackson, received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. Driver Shannon Friedrich, 25, of Cape Girardeau was uninjured.

The accident occurred as Friedrich lost control of her northbound vehicle, which skidded across the road and overturned, ejecting Stovall. The vehicle came to rest partially in the southbound lane, with Stovall pinned beneath it. Friedrich was charged with felony vehicular assault and failure to drive on the right half of the road.

In Perry County, an accident occurred Sunday on Route A, half a mile east of Perry County Road 426. Keith Hager, 43, of Perryville, Mo., was seriously injured and taken to St. Francis Medical Center.

The accident occurred as Hager failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. Hager was ejected.
